Aurogra (Sildenafil Citrate)

Working as a phosphodiesterase type-5 inhibitor, Aurogra relaxes and dilates the blood vessels in the penis to help men sustain an erection during sex.
This innovative new formula of Sildenafil was manufactured by Aurochem.
Most doctors begin with a prescription of 50 mg to test its effectiveness and determine if they should use more.
The lower dose is meant to protect males from negative side effects.

Common Use

Aurogra contains the active ingredient sildenafil, which belongs to a class of medications called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors—in simple terms, it works by helping the blood vessels in the penis relax and widen, allowing more blood to flow in when a man is sexually aroused.

Here’s how it works in plain language: During sexual stimulation, the body releases a chemical called nitric oxide in the penis. This sets off a chain reaction that relaxes the smooth muscles and allows blood to flow into the penis, causing an erection. Sildenafil helps this process by blocking an enzyme that would normally end the erection, so the effect lasts longer.

Sildenafil is used to treat:

Erectile dysfunction (ED) – sometimes called impotence, which is the inability to achieve or maintain an erection firm enough for satisfactory sexual activity

Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) – a condition where the blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs is abnormally high, causing shortness of breath, dizziness, and fatigue. For this condition, sildenafil is taken regularly (not just as needed)

Aurogra is for men only. It does not protect against sexually transmitted infections.

Dosage and Direction

Take Aurogra by mouth with a glass of water approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour before sexual activity. The medication should not be taken more than once a day.

A high-fat meal (such as a burger and chips) may delay the time it takes for the medication to start working

Try not to eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice while being treated with sildenafil, as grapefruit can increase the level of the medication in your blood and raise the risk of side effects

For the treatment of erectile dysfunction, the usual starting dose is 50 mg, but your doctor may prescribe a lower dose (25 mg) or a higher dose (100 mg) depending on how well you respond and how you tolerate the medication.

For pulmonary arterial hypertension, the dosage and schedule are different—follow your doctor’s instructions carefully.

Precautions

Before you start taking Aurogra, tell your doctor or pharmacist if:

You are allergic to sildenafil or any of the other ingredients in the tablet

You have any other allergies

You have a history of heart problems, including heart attack, stroke, angina (chest pain), or irregular heartbeat

You have high or low blood pressure

You have liver disease or kidney disease

You have retinitis pigmentosa (a rare inherited eye condition)

You have sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, or leukemia (conditions that can increase the risk of priapism)

You have a curved penis (Peyronie’s disease) or any condition that could cause prolonged erections

Older adults may be more sensitive to the side effects of the drug, and your doctor may start you on a lower dose.

Contraindications

Aurogra is contraindicated—meaning you should not take it—in the following situations:

Taking another medicine to treat impotence (such as tadalafil, vardenafil, or other sildenafil products)

Using nitrate drugs for chest pain or heart problems (such as nitroglycerin, isosorbide mononitrate, isosorbide dinitrate) or recreational drugs called “poppers” containing amyl nitrite or butyl nitrite—this combination can cause a life-threatening drop in blood pressure

Women and children – this medication is not intended for use by women or children

Known hypersensitivity (allergy) to any component of the tablet

Possible Side Effects

Common side effects may include:

Headache

Flushing (redness and warmth of the face, neck, or chest)

Heartburn or indigestion

Stomach upset

Nasal stuffiness (stuffy nose)

Lightheadedness or dizziness

Diarrhea

Blurred vision or changes in color vision (seeing a blue or green tint)

A serious allergic reaction to this drug is very rare, but if you experience symptoms such as rash, hives, swelling of the face or throat, or difficulty breathing, seek immediate medical help.

Important: If you have an erection that lasts more than 4 hours (priapism), seek medical help immediately. If not treated promptly, this can cause permanent damage to the penis.

Many people using this medicine do not experience serious side effects. However, if you notice any side effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Drug Interactions

Aurogra can interact with several medications. Do not take Aurogra with:

Nitrates (for chest pain) – this combination can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure

Recreational drugs called “poppers” containing amyl nitrite or butyl nitrite

Alpha-blocker medications (such as doxazosin, tamsulosin) – used for high blood pressure or enlarged prostate; taking them with Aurogra can cause low blood pressure

Other medications for impotence (such as tadalafil, vardenafil, avanafil)

Certain antifungal medications (such as ketoconazole, itraconazole)

Certain antibiotics (such as erythromycin, clarithromycin)

HIV protease inhibitors (such as ritonavir, saquinavir)

Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details. Always inform your doctor about all medications you are taking, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter products, and herbal supplements.

Missed Dose

Aurogra is used as needed, so you are unlikely to be on a regular dosing schedule. If you are taking it for erectile dysfunction, simply take it when you need it. If you are taking it for pulmonary arterial hypertension on a regular schedule, take the missed dose as soon as you remember, but do not take it if it is almost time for your next dose.

Overdose

If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, seek emergency medical attention right away. Symptoms of overdose may include:

Chest pain

Nausea

Irregular heartbeat

Feeling light-headed or fainting

Severe dizziness

Prolonged erection

Storage

Store Aurogra at room temperature between 20–25°C (68–77°F), away from light and moisture. Do not store it in the bathroom. Keep all drugs out of reach of children and pets.
